Correct Your 10 Biggest Mistakes
that Even “Trainers” Make It's Time to Separate the Myths From the Facts!
by Master Trainer and Dog Psychologist - Kevin Salem
Just by correcting these ten misconceptions and mistakes, you’ll automatically improve your chance of success to a level matching the top 1% of the elite in the business. Intentionally or not, I've noticed almost all dog owners and even the lovely TRAINERS, fall into this category. Are you one of them? You'll soon about to find out! If you really want to cut down on your training time and get results that truly last, busting these myths will be your stepping stone in achieving hard-to-ignore results!
Myth
# 1: Training Ruins a Dog’s Personality and Breaks His Spirit
Dog abuse does that, not proper training combined with dog psychology. When your dog makes a mistake, you need to correct it, not punish it. There is a big difference! Hint: A sign of an abusive method is when you or a trainer is yelling, hitting or hanging your poor dog by his feet in order to make him listen or submit. Certain training tools also can be “misused” in the wrong hands. Myth
# 2:Train Your Dog with Treats and Then Wean Him Off of Them. Your Dog Will Listen Just As Well Forever and Ever After
This without any doubt HAS to be the biggest scam in dog training history! Would you still listen to your boss once he/she stops paying you? Then how do you expect the same level of response from your poor dog once you wean him off those cookies? Give your dog treats, but only at the very “end” of your training session and NOT before each command. That is being fair, smart AND practical. Besides, your dog should sit, stay or lie down because you said so and not because you’re holding a treat. Most of us were raised that way and turned out OK, didn’t we? Look. You want to rely on Love, Respect, Leadership and Technique and NOT Hotdogs, Cheese, Biscuit and Dried Liver. Let’s face it, it doesn’t take much talent or skill to bribe a dog to death and then call it “dog training.”
Myth # 3:You Can Solve Your Dog’s Bad Habits Which Mostly Occur in Your Home, by Joining an Obedience Class
Dog obedience classes are just for that. They are structured to teach your dog the “obedience factor” only! Bad habits such as jumping up, play-biting, bolting, not being fully housebroken, over-protectiveness, and not having manners around your guests, are all best solved in private or in your home first. Group-class trainers, no matter how qualified they may be, cannot help you with these issues around ten more untrained dogs and ten novice owners. Even teaching your dog to Heel, Stay, Lie Down and Come are best taught in private and without distractions first.
Myth
# 4:You Can’t Really Teach a Young Pup Under Four Months Old. And If Your Dog Is a Few Years Old, You’re Totally Out of Luck!
No dog is ever too young or too old to learn what is right and what is wrong. What is acceptable and what isn’t. So it doesn’t really matter whether your dog is an eight week old pup or a stubborn eight yr old dog. With a “Diverse Method,” all dogs can be trained and learn to obey your rules. For example, bad habits―such as peeing and pooping all over and inside your house, jumping up, lunging, snapping, running around like a maniac, barking excessively, terrorizing the guests and chasing down your poor family cat, are all unacceptable behavior. There is no excuse or age limit for them and with proper guidance and training technique, they too can be solved.
Myth
# 5:Since “NO” Doesn’t Get Your Dog’s Attention Anymore, Change it to “Eh”, “Eh-eh” or “Shht” Instead
You definitely want your dog to stop whatever it’s doing the second it hears the word--“NO!” Even if you have been somewhat successful in getting your dog’s attention with strange terms such as: “eh,” “eh-eh,” or even “ baaaah,” your friends, relatives, the kids, and the rest of your family members will laugh at you and have a hard time remembering it. Don’t forget. When your dog misbehaves, people naturally say “NO!” to it. They won't care much for other terms. Yes, Cesar Millan can control dogs with “Shhht” and it works for him. Are you The Dog Whisperer? I didn’t think so! ( Hey Cesar. You owe me one buddy! )
Myth
# 6:Don’t Bother Giving Your Dog ANY Commands Until You Get His Visual Attention by Saying, “Watch Me!” First
Answer this honestly! Would you rather have your dog look at you or actually “listen” to you? That’s right. LISTENING is far more important. Then please don’t stall your training with the annoying, watch me… watch me…watch me... that’s called nagging!!! You only need your dog’s eyes glued on to you if you are going to compete in obedience trials competition. Speaking from experience, most of you only care for a well-mannered and an obedient pet rather than a super-trained dog that wins you all these titles, ribbons, and trophies. Myth # 7:All Dogs Can Be Trained with the Same Training Tool
There is no magical tool that works on EVERY dog. Some dogs are just too strong, too big, too stubborn, and too unpredictable for their poor owners. So which training tools do top trainers swear by? The answer may surprise you, but they too rely on whatever that works best for them and their dogs. So why should it be any different with you and your pooch? If a certain tool which you are using at the moment doesn’t seem to get your dog’s full attention or match your physical strength, you might want to try another one. Why use what doesn’t work? This is especially obvious around tempting distractions. Myth
# 8: Walk and Heel Your Dog on the Left Side or on the Inside of the Street
You are most likely right-handed. Then why go through the hassle of learning a new skill by trying to control your strong, hyper, unpredictable, and easily-distracted dog with the weakest and least coordinated side of your body? Keeping dogs on your left side is only required for showing and competition training. A well-trained dog can learn to walk on either side of the street. But oddly, most trainers hide this fact from you.
Myth
# 9:Dogs
Were Born to Please
The sad truth is the majority of our dogs rather please themselves first. Think about it. Your dog obviously loves you to death, but don’t confuse that with “respect” or “obedience.” Besides, if all dogs were truly "pleasers", don’t you think there would be NO dog training books, dog trainers, dog behaviorists or even doggie shrinks? Everybody would have a perfect dog with no bad habits and a dog that listens to you no matter what. Case closed! Myth # 10:If You Send Your Dog Away to Be Trained, It Will Learn to Listen ONLY to the Trainer and Ignore You All Over Again
Here’s how I will bust this myth once and for all: Nobody can argue with the fact that all the best-trained dogs you can think of have been trained by an expert first. Dogs for the blind, dogs for the handicap, hunting dogs and attack-trained police dogs are just a few examples. Drop-off training is a wise choice, especially when you travel out of town, have a busy schedule, are moving, or simply prefer the trainer to do the hardest part for you and then you’ll do the maintenance. Basically your dog goes to rehab or gets re-trained, then the harder part comes next―training YOU!

You Can Forget About Training Your Dog.
Just Prepare to !!! FACE THESE CONSEQUENCES !!!
•Putting
up with a disobedient dog that jumps up
on everyone, constantly play-bites at your hands
and feet, steals food off tables and
goes crazy just because someone rang the door bell
or the mailman showed up.
• A
dog that listens to your commands only when you are holding
a treat, yelling or have to get physical with
it.
• Adding
more stress in your life than you already need
due to your dog not being fully housebroken, or
because of its inappropriate marking. Not to forget
a stinky house and the fear of replacing the carpet.
Which always costs you much more than ANY dog training program out there.
• A dog that comes to you only when-- HE--is ready and
stays for however long time-- HE darn feels like it.
You can't call that a trained dog, can you?
•Changing
your walking routes the minute you see another
dog. God forbid your dog sees another person walking
a dog, and that's when all hell breaks loose.
• More
embarrassment and looking like an
idiot when your dog flat out ignores
you around visitors,
or just because your poor cat decides
to move. Maybe because you
wanted your dog to run loose in the
park without a leash.
How else
is he going settle down for crying
out loud?
• A
dog that yanks your arm out of its socket and doesn't
care much about knocking you down, jumping on your kids, visitors and
begs, whines, scratches doors,
and runs around like a maniac from room to room,
couch-to-couch, with no sense of boundary or respect
for your home or your rules.
• Being
completely ignored once your dog find itself off-leash and away from you. You notice your dog forgot
everything you ever taught her and maybe
went deaf. Or you swear you became invisible. Don't believe us? Then unhook your dog's leash around other dogs, cats, kids, squirrels, visitors and your neighbors. A-ha!
• Friends
and relatives who hate dropping
by because you can't seem to
have ANY control over your
dog or even worse, make ridiculous
excuses for its unacceptable
behavior. Let's not forget veterinarians
who can't stand putting up
with you or your "psycho" and unruly dog.
• Constant
arguments in your household and with your neighbors,
due to your dog barking nonstop inside, outside,
through the fence, or even if it hears a pin drop.
•Running,
screaming and being embarrassed chasing after your
dog every time he manages to bolt out the door. Sometimes forget being
on foot, you have to get the car.
•A
dog that is over-protective and snaps at other dogs,
at your guests, and in worst case scenario, even
at--YOU--and your loved ones.
• The
fear of never be able to fully trust your dog
around your kids or toddlers.
• Paying
thousands of dollars due to your dog's destructive
chewing, digging, destroying your plants, the sprinkler
system or your fancy furniture.
• Force
to pay hefty vet bills from your dog attacking
innocent dogs, or worse, constantly picking fights
and bullying your other dog whenever it feels like it.
• Getting
sued, which could cause you a great financial loss,
losing your home insurance, and leaving you with
no choice but to find your dog another home or
even being forced to put it down.
Do You REALLY Want to Live This Way???
This
is not why you got a dog, was it? Isn't having
a dog supposed be a loving experience that is
fun, healthy, balanced and a bond that you want
to remember positively for rest of your life?
Bottom line, it is your choice to end your headaches,
embarrassments, arguments and the physical and
mental pain you and your family goes through for
putting up with an unruly dog!!
Try our services, or at least try my book. The
download is really FREE.
The more you put this off, the worse your dog's going
to get. Trust me when I say this. Your dog's bad
habits will NOT go away on its own or as it gets
older. Are we humans known to become perfect citizens
as we age? Some of us, yes, But sadly, getting older
doesn't always mean getting wiser or nicer,
and it's no different when it comes to our dogs.
Also, you don't have to
put up with your dog's unacceptable behavior
just because it happens to be a 9 week pup or a
9 year old stubborn adult dog. Your dog
is never too young or too old to learn what is
allowed and not allowed. What is right and
what is wrong.
I have helped thousands
of frustrated dog owners like yourself around the
world and love to give you and your dog an honest
chance. Just don't forget. Your dog as smart and as
cute as he/she is, cannot really think for itself and is
depending on YOUR best decision here. Please make sure
you make the right one.

IMPORTANT: If
you already done some shopping around, you probably noticed
that the majority of dog trainers and dog schools talk
bad about the services that they do NOT offer. They will
say anything to brainwash you by telling you all the reasons
why "group classes", "boot camp" doesn't work, or you don't need them. The truth is, we've seen
amazing results in private lessons, obedience classes
and deliver hard-to-believe results with our doggy boot
camp.
So don't worry. We don't tell you what you WANT to
hear. Whether you prefer a private lesson,
have us come or even fly to you, or dying to have us do all the hard work for you and take your dog to be trained, we offer them all. So it’s
your choice, your dog, and how much you want to spend on
its training. Just like any other services, you get what
you pay for.
Let's
face it. Dog training, true dog training,
and doing it "correctly" is an art. This is one of those
arts that
even those who call themselves a dog trainer, have not yet
fully mastered.
So we can honestly label them as--"Secrets".
If they weren't secrets,
don't you think we'd see more well-trained dogs all around us?
Everybody would know how to train their dogs with great results
and we all would have a perfectly trained dog with no
bad habits.
