At Last, Put an End to the Mystery.
A Complete List of Why Your Dog Loses Focus Around “Other”
Dogs!
From the Book "Hidden Secrets Behind Dog Training."
Wouldn't be nice to know the "exact" cause
why your dog barks, pulls on the leash, lunges, growls, attacks,
or shies away as soon as he sees another dog? Well, keep reading.
You're in for a big surprise.
See Which of These Remind of You of Your Dog:
* You have a sloppy training technique
or a weak foundation at home. This simply means that your dog
doesn’t listen to you one hundred percent of the time in
your home or around your guests. And if that's the case, why would
he all of a sudden obey you perfectly around dogs that act aggressive,
playful, or bark nonstop?
* Your dog always lunges
and attacks other dogs and doesn’t exactly know HOW to behave.
Like a barbarian, it’s totally normal for him to act this
way. He is thinking to himself, “It doesn’t really
matter if the other dog is small, big, black, white, friendly
or vicious. I always lose it when I run into other dogs. It’s
fun, it keeps me alive, and nobody has been able to stop me so
far. I sure have that spice in me. Rrrrrruf!”
* Your dog is desperately trying to
play or just sniff the other dog. Plain and simple. But the reason
you cannot control him is because you have the wrong timing, wrong
technique, or you are wasting your time with the wrong training
tool that obviously doesn't even seem to get your dog's attention
around other dogs.
* Your dog has must’ve
been attacked by a dog in the past and was injured or traumatized
very badly. This incident was enough for him losing total trust
and confidence in people. You see, when you or someone else couldn’t
protect your poor dog from another dog, he had to find a way to
protect himself. So now he anticipates another dog attack. This
is why he tries to at least act tough to scare the other dogs
away. And can you blame him?
* You have been avoiding
any dog you came across by changing routes on your walks, or by
taking your dog out really late at night or super early in the
morning. That out of sight out of mind thing doesn’t always
work now, does it?
* You spot another dog on your walk,
and without missing a beat, immediately pat your pooch and say,
“It’s okaaaaaaay. Be good now. It’s a nice doggie.”
But, here’s the problem: by doing so, you are unknowingly
making your dog more nervous and even aggressive toward other
dogs.
The reason is simple. Your dog sees you as the weak and less
confident one of the pack. It’s even worse if your dog is
charging, snapping, barking and growling the entire time, and
you keep petting him assuming that might calm him down. This only
translates to: “Go ahead. Kill ’em.” Even if
you correct your dog by tugging on its leash while saying, “NO,”
you are STILL not crystal clear with your words and actions.
* Your dog USED to be friendly toward
all dogs, but you slacked off on dog activities, daily walks,
etc. And now, all of a sudden he doesn’t know exactly how
to behave politely around dogs that he hasn’t seen or met
before.
* You never thought socializing your
dog with other dogs was really important or even possible. So
you kept putting it off and now you finally admit that it has
become a serious and embarrassing problem!
* You misread your dog’s or,
maybe the other dog’s body language and posture. For example,
by holding your dog’s leash tightly, you are making your
harmless dog seem a bit tense, nervous, confrontational, and sometimes
even unpredictable to other dogs. Some dogs are being relaxed
and could care less about other dogs, but their owners get nervous
and desperately try to pull them closer to them. Again, this makes
even a very friendly dog unwillingly appear tense and —ready
to kick butt. So please don’t wrap the leash around your
hand three times by anticipating a major dog fight just because
you come across another dog.
* You’ve been letting your dog
constantly mark on walks and thought it was normal and harmless.
So now when he sees another dog in your neighborhood, he gets
upset and tries to defend his territory. You see, just as your
dog is overprotective of your house and your yard, he now thinks
that he owns the entire neighborhood. Many dog owners don't know
this. But even when your dog scratches the grass with his hind
legs, he is actually marking and leaving his scent for other dogs.
* Your dog or maybe the other dog,
isn’t spayed or neutered. So they are dying to get it on
or prove themselves. That’s right; jealousy also causes
many dogs to act aggressively toward one another.
* Your dog whines and whimpers to
trick you into thinking that all it wants to do is play and have
fun with the other dog. But when you get close enough, he goes
for the kill. Very unpredictable AND sneaky!
* You have a poor attitude and might
even be prejudiced or just scared of certain breeds. And guess
what? Dogs never miss this and will try to protect you or at least
try to scare the other dog away. Maybe you hate certain breeds
and your dog and other dogs sense it from your energy, body language,
and from your facial expression. Maybe it was because your dog
noticed how fast you totally changed direction, walked to the
other side of the street, or picked up your small dog in a panic.
* Your dog never lost a dog fight
in his entire life and always managed to intimidate, bully and
lunge at every dog he met and actually got away with it. He probably
sent a few dogs to the hospital and sees himself as undefeated.
The bigger the other dog, the more of a challenge; the bigger
the fight, and of course, the more the pay per view.
* Certain dogs provoke your dog more
than others. Pay attention to any pattern. Is your dog getting
aggressive more toward males, females, puppies, adults, small
dogs, black dogs, white dogs, fluffy dogs, dogs with floppy ears,
pointy ears, or even male dogs that aren’t neutered. How
about their owners? Can you pinpoint anything that triggers your
dog behaving badly? Some dogs love a challenge and prefer to fight
the biggest dogs that cross their path. And some get annoyed by
the small dogs’ constant barking and probably see them as
Costco’s appetizers.
* Something or someone has irritated
your dog earlier, and now he decides to let it out on another
dog. Be honest. Don’t YOU lash out at others when you are
not in a good mood? There you go. Your dog learned it from you!
* Your pooch is dying to play or
interact with the other dog, but doesn’t really know HOW.
So he gets mad at you, mad at the other dog, at the leash, at
your training tool and at the world! This could be a dog that
once he manages to get loose, regardless of how aggressive he
acts, just might lick the other dog to death to show his affection.
As you might have noticed, most dogs, when they want to play,
just pull on the leash, whimper a little, wag their tails faster,
or may even bark and whine in excitement--but not your dog! And
it’s really hard to know for SURE exactly what he’ll
do once he finally manages to get to the other dog. Will he play
or go for the kill? And who’s brave enough to really find
out?
* Your dog gets aggressive only when
he is on a leash. This kind of behavior is also very likely due
to fear and frustration in an attempt to keep the other dogs away.
Think about it. Your dog is not stupid and notices that when he
acts this way, you or the other dog owner always pull back and
not let the dogs interact with one another.
Your dog knows very well that he can’t do much while being
restrained by a leash. So since his movements are limited, why
not act like a maniac. It is much safer and smarter. Basically,
each bark and growl is telling you: “Let me go. Let me go,
Mommy. I can take him. Let me show you what I can do. Let me put
him on the news for you.” But you know your dog better than
anyone and swear that he falls under the “all bark and no
bite” category.
* Your dog is using your “other”
dog as a shield or backup and knows it gives her more power when
they are walked as a pack. These dogs may walk politely one-on-one,
but never as a team. They want to attack every dog they encounter.
* And finally, your dog acts aggressively
toward other dogs only when “you” are walking it.
In fact, he may behave and walk like a gentleman with your spouse,
boyfriend, girlfriend or whomever. But he always acts like a complete
nightmare with you. Some of you might think of this behavior as
the dog being protective and the word “aggressive”
probably won’t even cross your mind.
In most of these cases, the owners are the ones who keep spoiling
the dog and rarely give any commands or even follow through on
what they say, which is another strong indicator of why the dog
doesn’t take them seriously in the first place.
Protective or Aggressive? Here's the Difference!
Be honest! Do you consider every person and every dog you run
into as real threat to yourself or your dog? Some of those poor
dogs are just half your dog’s size. A few of them are the
same size as your dog’s head. Some are just wagging their
tail with a big smile on their face dying to play with your dog.
But your psycho dog acts as if he wants to kill them for even
looking in your direction.
Do you really think your dog is being a great watchdog here? Reality
check! That is NOT being protective my friend, your dog is actually
being aggressive!
You see, it’s one thing if someone or some dog trying to
harm you and THEN your dog steps in to protect you from any harm.
But you know very well that this is rarely the case. Actually,
your dog knows that you will most likely let him get away with
this kind of behavior. Simply put, he’s being a “bully”
or “showing off” in your presence. Just like some
kids that act totally different with the babysitter, the grandparents,
or even when one of the parents is away for a while. You know
your dog better than anyone. Which one describes yours?
One of the biggest mistakes that you can make is automatically
assume that if your pooch loves your other dog, your friends'
dog or even the dog next door, that it will act remain dog-friendly
with every dog for the rest of his life. The truth is, some will,
but most will not.
Conclusion: You must be able to get your dog's full attention
around friendly dogs, aggressive dogs, hyper dogs, dogs that keep
on barking and even animated dogs. Don't forget. Truly aggressive
dogs are a lot like serial killers; they rarely go on a killing
spree of their friends or relatives. Their victims are usually
complete strangers.

It took ten years of hard work, intense research, and studying
thousands of cases
to write this book.
My Mission:
To Find All the Reasons Why Dogs Didn't Thrive to Their Fullest
Potential.
I was shocked to find that the "real cause" had very
little to do with the dogs' age, breed,
size, intelligence, history, or even personality, but had everything
to do with the
“human element.”
Dog owners and even dog trainers from all around the globe were
skillfully misled, influenced and even brainwashed. Sadly, all
this had a tremendous affect on their beliefs, attitude, technique,
drive, sense of hope, creativity, and of course--their level of
success.
Book's Description:
This book takes a deeper look at modern dog training and canine
psychology while it also introduces you to the next level and
the future of training and canine behavior modification—“The
Diverse Method.”
Think about it. If there are more than four hundred
different breeds of dogs in this world, how can they possibly
all respond to only one way of training? Have you ever considered
that fact? You see, every dog was bred specifically for a purpose.
So for any expert to argue that you can train EACH AND EVERY ONE
with just Positive Reinforcement or Negative Reinforcement show
their arrogance, lack of experience and diversity.
The secret is to follow a "Diverse Reinforcement"
because, just as with humans, dogs don't always respond to a strictly
positive or negative approach. Here's where it gets more interesting.
All dog trainers know this, but don't or can't teach it in their
training method.
!!! Now
Did I Get Your Attention??? !!!
Look, you are definitely NOT going to be safe, smart or successful
if you rely on just one way of training as a crutch. The key to
greatness is to arm yourself with different training techniques
that will prepare you for ANY dog, despite their age, size, strengths,
intelligence, past history or personality. Again, I am talking
about being "Diverse" because no method and no training
tool is guaranteed to work in every situation and on every dog.
That's just a fact!
This is one of those rare books that will make you smile, make
you laugh, make you think and even challenge you to push yourself
far beyond your leash or your bag of treats. It is filled with
life lessons along with my incredible journey with dogs from all
walks of life.
If you are the sensitive type, you may get a few lumps in your
throat. I've spent a decade writing this book, which inspired
me to learn something new from every dog, every owner and every
trainer I've encountered. So, in a way, the book has grown with
me.
My hope is that when you finish it, both you and your dog will
be able to communicate with one another much more effectively.

Kevin Salem is considered to be a prominent philosopher and one
of the brightest minds in the world of dog training. It’s
hard to paint Kevin’s image with the same brush as others,
as his unique way of "Diverse Method" and philosophy,
makes him very distinct.
Ever since he was young, Kevin has been able to relate and communicate
with dogs in a very special way. You know when you meet a natural.
We’ve all seen one. These individuals are rarely taught,
but rather born. In over two decades of working with different
breeds, he has successfully trained well over 10,000 dogs worldwide,
earning him the nickname,“The Dog Prodigy.”
He is one of those rare experts in his field who has the knowledge
and the expertise to accept challenging cases that the majority
of dog schools simply don’t want to deal with. We are referring
to “red zone dogs,” and those already given up on
by many trainers, veterinarians and even animal behaviorists.
He is proud of saving hundreds of these dogs from abandonment,
shelters, or worse, euthanasia.
Kevin gained his experience from studying and practicing different
methods of training. To expand his knowledge even further, he
also compared the strengths and weaknesses of different theories
from more than a hundred books on dog training, dog behavior,
and canine psychology.
Mr. Salem currently operates his school, Dog Secrets, where
he offers house calls not only throughout the US, but globally.
