Early Signs of Canine Aggression:
If you own a dog or know someone who owns a dog with
the following behavior, they must seek immediate help
of a trainer, behavior consultant, or even an animal
behaviorist. Most dog trainers do not know, cannot
handle, or simply turn down these cases. We are one of
the few
in town who accept such cases and believe your dog
deserves a second chance.
Signs of Aggression should not be confused or Ignored.
Look For when:
- You dog knows the command, but ignores you 90%
of the time.
- Stops eating or chewing his bone when you come
near it, a growl or a curl lip is even worse. Your
dog is
telling you, “I’m eating. Don’t you
dare bother me or touch what I’m eating.”
- Refuses to be pushed off the furniture, beds, or
high places and might even try to growl or nip at
you. Your
dog believes, I’m furry with four legs, but
I am equal as you.
- Try to get out of its collar, to get to someone
or something. This could be in a playful/aggressive
way.
Basically, your dog doesn’t see you as the
one in charge and wants to take control.
- Takes something that doesn’t belong to her and
tries to hide under bed and if you try to reach for
her, she growls, lunges or even literally tries to take
your
arm off.
- Does not stop its barking around guests and even
acts overprotective toward them. No matter what you
say or
do, your dog isn’t stopping and even lunges at
your guests. Once again, your dog doesn’t completely
see you in charge. This is why your dog thinks this
is his house and not everyone is welcome there. But
the
reality is: It is your house, your visitor, your
rules, and you are my dog. So stop acting like a
maniac.
- Hates to be stared down and even growls, barks,
or lunges at you. When your dog misbehaves and you
tell
it to stop jumping, barking, whining, or when giving
the Down Command, is where you might notice this
stare. It really is a deep stare, not a love gaze.
- Biting the leash, your hand, ankles, your hair,
and even your butt to get your attention or to have
you
leave it alone and not restrain it. They might be
only play
bites now, but usually get worse, and you will notice
that play-biting, eventually turns to real-biting,
and it isn’t cute or funny anymore.
- Want all the attention, all the toys, all the bones
and you see it chewing on one rawhide, while having
four more under his paws.
- Snaps at your face or your fingers when she is
done being petted by telling you, it’s enough
now. Leave me alone.
- They are more aggressive ON LEASH than off leash.
Your dog is trying to tell you, “I know what I’m
doing. I can take ANY dog, ANY thing and ANY body that
comes my way. Let me show you what I can do mommy.”
- Marks on walks, the furniture and worst cases,
even dogs and people. This means, I own everything
and everyone
and here’s the proof-I can even piss on you
or your belongings.
- Gets in between if you are having an argument with
your spouse or when you are simply trying to be
affectionate toward one another.
Sometimes due to your dog not being neutered
or spayed, also causes aggression, moodiness and
over prtectiveness
toward dogs or at least, dog of the same sex.
You will be amazed how many aggressive related cases
I have
solved when they dogs were altered.
