Our Best Plan:
Dog Training Advice

When it comes to dog training advice there are literally as many different opinions as there are dogs and while perhaps not all them are right for your dog, not all of them are wrong for dog either. Every dog trainer has his own way to train a dog and what may work for one type of dog or situation may not work for another. One thing is for certain if you want to be able to enjoy having a dog you need to make sure your dog is properly trained not only for your happiness but for his as well. Of all the dog training advice given by any trainer the most important advice any dog trainer will give you is that you must let your dog know who is in charge right from the beginning.

This does not mean that you have to be abusive and beat your dog into submission; this is absolutely the wrong approach. Dominance and recognizing it for what it is, is something that comes naturally to a dog as they are a pack animal and as such used to being either the leader or a follower. Once you established the proper pack leader type position you can then begin to properly train you dog and not one minute sooner. If you do not follow this particular piece of dog training advice, your chances of being able to control your dog and getting him to behave in public are very slim. When a dog is part of a pack he looks to the Alpha male in the pack for all of his behavior clues, this is also where he turns in any situation that he is uncertain of. If you do not present yourself as the dominant leader of the pack, your dog will have no one to follow and learn from making it almost impossible for him to become a well adjusted dog.

Training a dog is not something that is going to happen in one day no matter whose dog training advice you follow, not even the dog trainers that have their own television shows will tell you this. Instead what they will tell you is that it takes lots of time and patience to achieve the position of pack leader. Once you have achieved the Alpha position you will find that your dog will begin to respond far more willingly to your commands. In your dog's world ownership means everything according to the dog training advice given by most professional dog trainers; however this does not mean the same thing to your dog as it does to you. In a dog's mind ownership means to exercise dominance over something like a door. If you want your dog to obey you must show dominance in all aspects of your dog's life, you cannot let your dog dominate you in any way unless you want to lose the control you have worked so hard to gain.
