Instead what they will tell you is that it takes lots of time and patience to achieve the position of pack leader. Once you have achieved the Alpha position you will find that your dog will begin to respond far more willingly to your commands. In your dog's world ownership means everything according to the dog training advice given by most professional dog trainers; however this does not mean the same thing to your dog as it does to you. In a dog's mind ownership means to exercise dominance over something like a door. If you want your dog to obey you must show dominance in all aspects of your dog's life, you cannot let your dog dominate you in any way unless you want to lose the control you have worked so hard to gain.
